Kiwi 4-  Hamish & Eric, along with Carl Meyer & James Dallinger, were members of the NZ Coxless Four that won the World Championship title in Munich, Germany on the 1st September 2007. The Four won the title after a great European season, winning a World Cup race in Amsterdam and getting Bronze at the World Cup in Lucerne, Switzerland.
Good times in Beijing  After the disappointment of the rowing it was time to relax and enjoy the “Olympic Experience”. Being an athlete entitled us to get available tickets to see different events and venues for all a large array of sports. To watch other history making moments form other sports, were memories that we won’t forget.   Being relaxed and Down-to-earth sort of guys that we are, means that we can be enemies of other crews on the water, but also be friends with them off. We all have the same common ultimate goal and that is to win! But once the competing is out of the way, then its time to enjoy the company of the people that have also devoted their lives in the pursuit of their dreams.   There were many parties and many friends made not only at Beijing, but from previous years racing in the coxless four. It was a great experience which to this day, we still keep in contact with many of our international friends. I know that I already have a full house booked for when the Worlds come to Karapiro in 2010.   Eric.
Trial Time  After the season of part time training in the pair, we headed into trials with the hope that what we had achieved by a couple of very dominating races over the summer, would lead the selectors to see our potential and put us in the pair. It turned out to be a very easy trial for the both of us! With no seat racing or any real testing, we were put into the pair for training and told to prepare for our time-trial. We had Marvelous conditions for our trial and set down a time we knew would make the selectors see that we were in fact the best choice for the pair, and a trip to Europe for the international racing season would be on the cards. It will be a new chapter in the book for both Hamish and I, and I know that the challenge is there for us to take hold of with both hands and show what we can do. We have a new coach this year in Richard Tonks, and we know his style of coaching will bring out the best in both of us.
